When I first began practising Iyengar Yoga 16 years ago I quickly became aware of how beneficial this practice is towards building strength, flexibility, stamina, suppleness and improving muscle tone and balance. Since then I have continued to been inspired and encouraged by several of B.K.S.Iyengar’s senior teachers passing on his pure Iyengar instruction.
I gained my Teaching Certificate from the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune, India in 2007 and as a commitment to my personal and professional development, I attend regular classes and workshops to further challenge and enhance my knowledge and experience.
As a result my own yoga practice is dynamic, growing and deepening daily. I am continually discovering new aspects of the Asanas and observing working with the anomalies my own body, honestly informing what I can then pass on to help students.I am delighted to be teaching Iyengar Yoga to students in Harrogate.
Through sharing my enthusiasm and dedication, as well as offering an inviting atmosphere in which to practice, I aim to inspire and encourage my students to excel in their own practice of Yoga making progress according to their own abilities. I encourage students with a methodical, progressive and inclusive approach, regardless of ability, emphasising detailed correctness and absolute safety. To enable this progress props such as foam blocks, wooden bricks, blankets and belts are used to help support the body in the different postures to improve alignment and precision in a safe manner, helping to achieve the postures to the best of one’s ability.
Regular Asana and Pranayama practice will bring serenity and calmness to the student, enabling the internal organs to become strong and to work efficiently. The student can overcome many symptoms of stress, such as headaches, stiff necks, lower backache, insomnia and digestive disorders. Yoga practice helps to improve concentration and self-discipline, and to harness one's energy - by so doing, it brings vitality in your everyday activities!
Classes start at The Pure Treatment Rooms on Friday September 11th 2009.
